************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 139 December 05, 2008 ************************************************************************ Information from the IERS Conventions Centre 1) Due to the migration to a new server, the IERS Conventions user discussion forum http://tai.bipm.org/iers/forum/ is being discontinued. Existing contributions will remain available in a static web page through the same address. A new communication tool (e.g. mailing list) will be developed and made available soon. 2) A new page has been developed to present material that complement the IERS Conventions but are not formally a part of them. These can be e.g. test cases, technical notes written by contributors to the Conventions, etc... and are not subject to the same review process as the Conventions chapters and associated programs. The page is available at http://tai.bipm.org/iers/convupdt/convupdt_aux.html. Contributions (documents or links) are welcome. All changes to the web site will occur on 8 December 2008, so the site may be unavailable for some time on this day. 3) Recent updates to the IERS Conventions * 2 September 2008 (chapter 5): The previous update of 5 November 2004 in section 5.5.1 has been highlighted in the text to make it more readily visible. * 24 October 2008 (new version of chapter 10): New definition of TDB following IAU Resolution B3 (2006) and correspondingly new description of the relations between time scales. New section "Transformation between proper time and coordinate time in the vicinity of the Earth". Numerical examples for the relativistic terms in the acceleration of an Earth's satellite. The list of all updates to the IERS Conventions can be found at http://tai.bipm.org/iers/convupdt/listupdt.html.
