DORIS special issue in "Advances in Space Research" - call for papers


Dear Colleagues:

For some of you, apologies for the cross-posting.

Please note this call for papers for a special issue in the journal
"Advances in Space Research", regarding 'Scientific Applications of
DORIS data in preparation of ITRF2013.' Details of the call are below.

This special issue on DORIS follows on the previous special issue in ASR
(in 2 volumes) 2010, which can be accessed at the following URL's.

DORIS special issue in the journal "Advances in Space Research"
Scientific Applications of DORIS data in preparation of ITRF2013

Papers are invited for a special issue in the journal "Advances in Space
Research" entitled " Scientific Applications of DORIS data in
preparation of ITRF2013".

We invite potential authors to contact the editors of the special issue
(Frank.G.Lemoine (at) nasa.gov, E.J.O.Schrama (at) tudelft.nl) to
signify their intent to submit, and provide a working title and list of
authors as soon as possible. This will help with planning for the
special issue and help to expedite the review of the submitted papers.

Many teams and analysis centers have been actively involved in the
analysis of DORIS data for ITRF2013. We encourage these groups, many of
whom have made significant advances in different aspects of their
processing, to submit papers to this special issue. We solicit papers
that discuss the use of DORIS alone, or in combination with the other
geodetic techniques (Satellite Laser Ranging, SLR; Global Navigation
Satellite Systems, GNSS; Very Long baseline Interferometry, VLBI).
Papers that discuss the applications of DORIS to precise orbit
determination, geodetic positioning and Earth orientation parameter
determination, in conjunction with or associated with ITRF2013 are also
encouraged.

DORIS is fundamental to the precise orbit determination for a suite of
altimetric and remote sensing satellites, including those involved with
observations the measurement of the change in global mean sea level. We
explicitly solicit papers that review precise orbit determination, or
discussing POD modeling improvements for these satellites (TOPEX/
Poseidon, Jason-1, Jason-2, Cryosat-2, Envisat, Saral, and HY-2A).

We welcome papers that discuss missions that would augment the DORIS
constellation, or relate to space-based co-location of the geodetic
techniques including DORIS, in view of improving the ITRF.

Papers that discuss the applications of DORIS data for oceanography (as
in applications related to mean sea level or the use of tide gauges), in
atmospheric sciences, in ionosphere studies, and in geophysical
applications global, regional or local), are also encouraged, in
particular if these take advantage of new models or techniques of
analysis.

Papers must be submitted electronically through the Elsevier Electronic
System (EES) Web site (http://ees.elsevier.com/asr) under the category
"S.I. DORIS". All manuscripts will be submitted to a standard peer-
reviewed process.
Accepted manuscripts will be published in a Special Issue of Journal of
Advances in Space Research (Elsevier, ISI Web of Science).
Deadline for submission is November 7, 2014 (Friday).

We encourage authors to contact the Guest Editors (Frank Lemoine,
Frank.G.Lemoine (at) nasa.gov; Ernst J.O. Schrama,
e.j.o.schrama (at) tudelft.nl) for any additional information.
They will be kept regularly informed on the progress of the Special
Issue until its expected publication in late 2015.
Papers will be available on the ASR Web site with a DOI as soon as they
are accepted.
