************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 279 September 29, 2015 ************************************************************************ DGFI: Postdoc position in the research area Reference Systems Dear colleagues, The Deutsches Geodaetisches Forschungsinstitut (DGFI, German Geodetic Research Institute) of the Technische Universitaet Muenchen is accepting applications for a Postdoc position (3 years) in the research area Reference Systems. The realization of reference systems and the combination of space geodetic observations has been a primary research area of DGFI since many years. The institute is an official Combination Center for the International Terrestrial Reference System (ITRS) within the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS). Besides the official ITRS computations our activities focus on the development of refined combination methods, which shall be applied to compute improved realizations of geodetic reference systems. A key research topic of the institute is the common realization of the celestial and terrestrial reference system together with the Earth orientation parameters (EOP) to improve the consistency of the products (see IUGG Resolution No. 3, 2011). In order to strengthen our team we are looking for a scientist on postdoc level for the research area Reference Systems. The general task is the combination of the space geodetic observation techniques (VLBI, SLR, GNSS, DORIS) for the realization of global reference systems. A specific focus shall be on a consistent realization of the celestial and terrestrial reference system including EOP, as well as the analysis of the results and the comparison with official IERS products. The position can be filled as soon as possible. More details on the offered position, required qualifications and conditions can be found here: http://www.dgfi.tum.de/en/jobs/ We are looking forward to receiving applications per mail or email no later than November 8, 2015.
