The Institute for Geodesy and Geoinformation (IGG) at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bonn, invites applications for the position of Junior Professor (W1) Geodetic Earth System Science starting as soon as possible. This vacant professorship is located at the interface between geodesy and other geosciences. The IGG participates in international research programs in satellite and space geodesy. It is involved in the regional research alliance Geoverbund ABC/J of the Aachen-Bonn-Cologne-Juelich region and in the Centre for Remote Sensing of the Land Surface (ZFL) at the University of Bonn. The appointee will have an outstanding doctoral degree and proven methodological expertise in the use of precise geodetic techniques for improving our understanding of the Earth system. His/her expertise is expected to cover at least one of the areas: - Satellite gravimetry and mass transports, - Radar altimetry, - Global space-geodetic techniques (VLBI, GNSS, SLR), - GNSS remote sensing, - Numerical modelling of relevant processes of the Earth system and integration of geodetic data. Teaching activities are expected in the study programs Geodesy and Geoinformation and, if appropriate, in other programs of the Faculty of Agriculture. Junior professors will initially be appointed for a period of 3 years. This appointment can be extended by further 3 years subject to a positive evaluation. Candidates must comply with the general conditions of employment according to Paragraph 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen).
