************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 342 November 27, 2017 ************************************************************************ Professorship of Geodetic Space Techniques in Stuttgart, Germany The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Stuttgart invites applications for the position of Professor (W3) of Geodetic Space Techniques The Chair of Geodetic Space Techniques is affiliated with the Institute of Geodesy. Successful applicants represent the broad area of geodetic space techniques in teaching and in research. Their research portfolio covers the methodology of geodetic space techniques like GNSS, VLBI, SLR, satellite altimetry, DORIS and InSAR. Research excellence is demonstrated in one or more aspects of the entire process chain from sensor technology and geodetic data processing to applications like global reference systems, Earth rotation and geokinematics. The successful applicant will teach courses on geometric geodesy (Satellite Geodesy, Reference Systems, Geodetic Space Techniques) in the German BSc- and MSc-programs Geodaesie & Geoinformatik as well as in the international MSc-program GEOENGINE. The faculty is looking for an internationally renowned expert on the aforementioned research areas. Leadership, excellent didactical skills and dedication to university service are a prerequisite to the position. We expect the successful applicant to develop a vigorous research program in cooperation with partners within faculty and with other institutions on campus. Moreover, collaboration with academic and industrial partners outside the University of Stuttgart is highly desirable. A workable knowledge of the German language is expected from non-native German speakers after an appropriate period of time.
