************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 394 January 13, 2020 ************************************************************************ Journees 2020 - 1rst Announcement Dear colleagues, Paris Observatory together with St. Petersburg State University are pleased to announce that the "Journees 2020 Echelles de temps: des quanta a la rotation terrestre (Time scales: from quanta to Earth rotation)" will take place from 13 to 15 July 2020 at the main campus of St. Petersburg State University in the city center of St. Petersburg (Russia). In the interest of enhancing our understanding of astronomical and atomic time, as well as their interconnections, these Journees are devoted to geophysical, astronomical, and physical aspects of time, its measurements and interpretations. The meeting will try to cover theoretical concepts as well as observational and technical solutions of time systems. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: 1. Last advances in the determination on Earth Rotation changes with focus on UT1 and LOD; 2. Geophysical interpretation of UT1 and LOD variations, consequences on Earth rheology; 3. Latest progresses in time measurement, development of frequency standards; 4. Time and Solar system dynamics: equator and equinox; 5. ITRF and its connection to UT1: reference pole and meridian; 6. Physics of time and underlying philosophical concepts Looking forward to seeing you in St. Petersburg!
